Human trafficking and libraries

What is the overlap between human trafficking and libraries? How can librarians identify the signs of trafficking and work with organizations fighting against trafficking?

Because libraries are often considered safe havens, it is important for librarians to understand how both youth and adults are being trafficked and how they may be able to assist.

This webinar explores the different types of human trafficking, including sex trafficking, labor trafficking, and familial trafficking. Participants learn to identify key risk factors that may indicate when an individual is vulnerable to, or currently experiencing, trafficking. The presentation also covers the tactics traffickers use to groom survivors, the networks that sustain trafficking, and the most recent data on the issue.
