Accessibility
We are committed to providing an accessible online experience for everyone who visits our website. Accessibility is an ongoing journey, and we continue to learn and improve as we grow.
Accessible design choices
We made design choices with accessibility in mind.
- Text size: We chose generous font sizes to support legibility across different screen sizes and visual needs—20px for body text, and nothing smaller than 18px.
- Line spacing: We use 1.5 line spacing to support comfortable reading.
- Videos: All embedded YouTube videos have closed caption controls available without having to leave the site.
- Colour and contrast: Colours were tested to meet or exceed WCAG Level AA contrast requirements. This supports comfort and readability across a range of visual needs.
- Focus indicators: For keyboard-only users, we use Erik Kroes’ “Oreo-focus” design (two dark outlines with a light line between). This helps the focus indicator stay clear across different interactive elements and backgrounds.
- Cards: Following Heydon Pickering’s guidance on inclusive card components, we made our cards fully clickable so they’re easier to click or tap. For screen reader users, only the card title is treated as the link on focus, so they don’t have to listen to all the extra text in the card.
Inclusive build and testing
We built this site on an accessible WordPress theme by KunStudios, shaped by years of expertise and refinement.
Easy Surf also carried out a full audit of the theme and tested it with assistive technologies, such as VoiceOver, screen readers, keyboard navigation, and zoom.
Ongoing accessibility improvements
We worked hard to push the accessibility of WordPress as far as we can. However, some areas are limited by WordPress itself (for example, parts of the navigation block) and may not fully meet every accessibility goal yet. We’re committed to monitoring these areas and improving them as the WordPress platform evolves.
We welcome your feedback
