Generative AI in libraries feels hard to avoid, and perhaps even harder to resist. Join Ella Gibson, Ruth Monnier, and Matthew Noe for a discussion about the current landscape of generative AI in libraries and what forms resistance can take.  

Presenter Info

Ella Gibson

Ella Gibson is the Online Learning and Instruction Librarian and an Associate Teaching Professor at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. She has a degree in history from the University of Central Florida, in library science from University of Kentucky, and is currently working on a degree in learning design and technology from the University of Colorado Denver. Her research interests primarily center on the intersections of librarianship and teaching. Spoiling her dogs, traveling, and drinking too much coffee are Ella’s favorite ways to unwind. email: egibson3@uccs.edu.


Ruth Monnier

Ruth Monnier is the Head of Research and Instructional Services at Mount Saint Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio. She holds degrees in education and history from the University of Dayton and in library and information science from Kent State University. Ruth has published and presented on the topics of: programming, Open Educational Resources (OER), and realities of being an academic librarian. In her free time, Ruth enjoys visiting museums, playing games, and traveling. Email: ruth.monnier@msj.edu. 


Matthew Noe

Matthew Noe (he/him) is currently the Lead Collection & Knowledge Management Librarian at Harvard Medical School, an instructor for both the University of Kentucky and Library Juice Academy, and a Trustee for the Worcester Public Library. He is a former President for the American Library Association’s Graphic Novels and Comics Round Table and was te founding treasurer for the Graphic Medicine International Collective.
